Future Networks and Edge/Cloud Computing Research

NetCloud Research Group

NetCloud is an active research group that conducts innovative research on Internet architectures and technologies, with emphasis on Network Function Virtualization (NFV), Software-Defined Networking (SDN), Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN), Internet-of-Things (IoT), and Edge Computing. NetCloud has acquired substantial third-party funding from EU and GSRI and has established tight collaborations with internationally acclaimed academic institutes, network operators, and vendors. NetCloud owns a dedicated edge computing facility, utilized both for research and lab courses at undergraduate and graduate level. The group is also renowned for its commitment to open-source and the various services (e.g., teleconference, VPN, compute nodes) offered for free to the local academic community.

Our Research Team

The NetCloud group is led by Prof. Panagiotis Papadimitriou and includes several researchers and developers that are engaged in various research and innovation activities, usually funded by EU or national funding agencies. The group’s areas of expertise include Internet protocols, network processing systems, programmable dataplanes, service/resource orchestration, Machine Learning, and mathematical optimization.
